This weekend I had my second LCC meeting (monthly aupair meeting, for all the aupairs in my area) and we all went bowling. It was okay, glow in the dark which was fun. Its a bit frustrating that LCC meetings are on the weekend, because that means I can't go interstate on those weekends, I can only venture as far as Philadelphia! I'd prefer the meetings to be during the week, but it at least gives me a chance to rest that weekend and save some money for any big trips coming up.
So this weekend, I wanted to do something very cheap, so today Evelyn and I went to the Philadelphia Zoo. It was the first zoo to be built in America, and was pretty good (no where near as good as Melbourne Zoo though!!!) but I will most likely go back in the summer because quiet alot of the animals had been put away, because of the cold. It was actually a fairly nice day, considering the last few weeks we've had!
My favourite animals were the naked mole rats (so cute! google them, do it now!!), peacocks, bald eagles, giant otters, giant shrews, capybaras (but they were sleeping far away so I didn't see them well ) and of course the usual - bears (polar and black) and cats (tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs, pumas). Oh, and of course the HUGE galapagos tortises that were humping. Disturbing yet very hard to look away, and also quite amusing!
I also added to my 'America Collectables'! In the grand tradition of my grandma and mum, I have started collecting magnets of all the places I've been. So far I have two philly, two zoo and two please touch museum magnets. I didn't have enough time to pick new york ones - there was way to many to choose from!!! I'm also collecting iron on patches, to make my own blanket and have ones from new york, philly and the zoo. Also, squashable pennies - which is so much fun! They flatten them out and put a design on them - new york, the zoo, museums. Lots of fun!!
Anyway, think thats it for now - look out for next weekend's blog cuz I am heading to New York. YAY I am so excited its not even funny!!!

Yeh i know what you mean, that is annoying that your meetings are on the wke! but yes i agree about the money lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome, the zoo would have been fun. I wouldnt have thought they would take the animals away due to the cold, but i can see why :) Thats soo cool they have heaps different animals to us :)
I should go, probably not on this trip though not enough time.
Hey i saw those flatten penny's first time Boston so cool. Great idea bout the collectables, im collecting snowdomes or something with the name on it. Also that a great idea bout the iron on pathes, i wouldnt have thought about that would be wicked to see once its all done :)
